Moadra Beginner Guide — Tips for Protea VI
Beginner tips for Moadra on PC: exploration, Protoplasm upgrades, scanner bot, save points, platforms, and what we verified on 2026-10-23.
Moadra is a single-player sci-fi Metroidvania from Gloomsoft: you explore Protea VI, use a scanner bot with X-ray vision, and grow stronger by spending Protoplasm at organic chambers (save and upgrade points). Verified on 2026-10-23 against the Steam store page, Gloomsoft Steam news, and the public sources listed at the bottom of this page.

What is Moadra, and what kind of guide is this?
Moadra is an action-adventure Metroidvania set on a sand-sea planet with desolate surface areas, freezing summits, and infested underground research facilities—per the Steam detailed description and Gloomsoft games page. You play Moadra, a Neera warrior searching for a missing royal research expedition while the Blight turns the environment hostile.
This page is an unofficial fan guide for players searching moadra guide or moadra tips. It avoids walkthrough spoilers, boss patterns we cannot source, and invented item stats. When we cite players or press, we label them.
For launch price, demo carry-over, and console store dates, see the release date, price, and platforms guide.
What should you do in the first hour?
Official marketing and store copy agree on the core loop: move (roll, dodge, jump, wall jump, sprint), fight with your blaster, scan enemies and objects, absorb Protoplasm from kills, and metamorphose at organic chambers. Chambers act as checkpoints where you can upgrade and respec according to several Steam player reviews (player feedback, not official patch notes).
Practical, sourced tips:
- Use the scanner early. The store promises X-ray vision to learn enemy weaknesses, inspect objects, and reveal hidden passages and vents—central to exploration and to the Servo Bot Ace achievement (100% scan progress). Our scanner bot and hidden paths guide collects verified scanner facts only.
- Treat Bioplasm as ability fuel. Player reviews describe Bioplasm as a meter that does not refill passively; you regain it from enemy drops or by resting at chambers. Demo patch notes (1.1.0) state Purify Lifeblood healing no longer consumes Bioplasm and can be charged at evolve chambers—confirm in your build via the in-game tooltip.
- If a fight feels unfair, explore first. Gloomsoft’s Steam discussion guidance (October 2026) recommends finding boosters and upgrades elsewhere before retrying an early Neera Archives boss—not a difficulty menu, but official pacing advice.
- Learn controls and rebinding. A pre-launch demo update added rebindable controls (Steam news, 2026-10-21). Defaults and verification status are on the controls and keybindings guide.

How do Protoplasm upgrades work?
Protoplasm is energy biomass from defeated enemies. At organic chambers, you undergo metamorphosis to strengthen weapons and abilities; chambers also save progress. The Steam page states ancestors died out 20,000 years ago and something terrible lies buried—expect gating abilities behind exploration rather than a single linear skill tree level.
Gloomsoft’s official Steam screenshots show separate upgrade tracks per weapon on the evolution screen: Alpha Blaster, Gatling Blaster and Spire Blaster with slots such as Speed, Charge, Rate, Length and Damage (Pixel Twelve described the same menu). Only the track names are visible, so treat any numbers you read elsewhere as unverified.

For Bioplasm versus Protoplasm and chamber behavior, read Protoplasm and Bioplasm explained. For ability names tied to achievements (Protopulse, Caustic Creepers, Wall Surger, Blightwing), see abilities and upgrades.
What does the map and exploration UI show?
We do not publish a full region walkthrough. Verified UI facts from official screenshots and player reviews include:
- A map screen you can pan and zoom (mouse: hold left drag to pan, right click reset, scroll to zoom—visible on the in-game map UI in store screenshot Undermoors).
- Player reviews say the map marks obstacles that need specific gear or keys and highlights upgrades or Protoplasm nodes you saw but have not picked up yet—single-source player feedback until more reviews agree.

Combat and bosses—what can this guide safely say?
Combat is described as agile free-aim shooting with lock-on support (Steam reviews; Steam Hype hands-on). Boss fights are called multi-phased and large on the Games Press 2021 reveal materials. We do not list attack patterns or recommended levels without multi-source proof.
What we can document today:
- Seven hidden boss achievements on Steam (names like Blight Beast, Alvus and Protosin, the Heralds of Blight)—see the full achievements guide and all bosses list. Steam’s achievement order is not the in-game encounter order.
- Demo patch 1.0.1 lowered Blight Beast difficulty and removed an Armored Barrier near that fight to improve access to a nearby save point—useful context if you played an older demo slice.

PC performance, Steam Deck, and settings
We do not quote FPS benchmarks or name graphics presets—those are absent from official specs. Minimum and recommended PC requirements, Steam Deck Verified status (tested 2026-10-14, build 25389913 per SteamDB notes aligned with Valve’s listing), 9 GB storage, and DirectX 12 are documented on the system requirements and Steam Deck guide.
Gloomsoft told Steam users the release build removed ultrawide support and listed wider aspect ratios under future improvements—not a beginner tip, but relevant when choosing a display.
Collectibles, 100%, and achievements
Steam lists 21 achievements, including collection goals (all Protoplasm Gists, all Blasters, all Boosters, 100% scan and inventory) and completion variants (Mission Complete, All Aboard! after rescuing stranded Neera, Immortal, Super Speed Run under three hours). Global unlock rates are tiny on 2026-10-23 because the game launched 2026-10-22—always check the date on percentages.
Start with the achievements guide and collectibles and 100% progress for tables sourced from Steam’s public achievement statistics.
What are players and press saying?
Steam showed a Very Positive rating (roughly 92–95% positive) from the first two dozen or so reviews when we checked on 2026-10-22/23; the number will have moved since—see reviews and reception. Steam Hype (2026-10-22) praised Giger-esque art, free-aim combat, and scanning; Game Critix (same day) highlighted Super Metroid, Alien, and Predator influences without a long playtime review.
